For most of the summer of 2011, the Bulletin was dedicated to introducing and explaining the new translation of the Missal which was gradually introduced into parish use from September. These notes can be read on the "Roman Missal" page. See under "Explore" on the Menu bar above.

The Easter celebrations here at Our Lady of Good Counsel parish were as moving
and beautiful as they always are. Services were well attended, with beautiful music
and the changing moods from Holy Week through Good Friday to Easter were
reflected in the changes to the look and atmostphere of the sanctuary and church.
Of particular joy was the celebration of the sacraments of Christian initiation at the Easter Vigil.
First, Scott Millar, just 15 years of age, fulfilled his hope
of becoming Catholic, by being baptised in the Easter
water. He was then joined for the sacrament of
Confirmation by Stella Lochran, who has been coming to
Mass in our parish for many years, but now took that step
into full profession of faith and Communion. Both shared
in Holy Communion with their sponsors and the whole
community during the Easter Vigil. Their joy was so
obvious, and the joy of the parish on welcoming them
was palpable. Our prayers go with them, as does our
pledge to remain the welcoming community which first
attracted them.

Around 80 parishioners packed out our hall on Saturday 26th February for a 'Buffet Night' in aid of a Mary's Meals project run in India. Fr Joson, a priest in India, runs two
projects for local people: daily meals
for children attending school
(supported by Mary's Meals) and
another to help pay for tuition and
bursaries for young people and mothers who would otherwise not be able to receive an education. A great night of music, food and laughter raised over £1300 to send to Fr Joson, all from the generous kitchens of parishioners here at OLGC - to provide food and education for the poor on another continent.
Congratulations to the Boys and Girls of Primary 3 who celebrated the sacrament of Penance for the first time during Lent. This is the next step on their journey of initiation into the the Church which will continue with the sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion in P4.
