HOLY  ORDERS

In the Catholic Church the Sacrament of Holy Orders is conferred only on suitable male candidates. Their training takes place in a seminary over a period of six to eight years. They study philosophy, scripture and theology along with other related sciences. The Scottish Church has seminaries in Glasgow, Rome and Salamanca.

HOLY  ORDERS


At this time only male members of the Catholic community are eligible for the Sacrament of Holy Orders.

A man may be ordained as a Priest or Deacon. Married men are eligible for the deaconate.

Those who wish to be considered for either office should consult with their parish priest.

Those studying for the priesthood will be invited to undertake a prolonged course of study at Scotus College in Glasgow ,

or the Scots College in Rome .
