Confirmation
The
Sacrament of Confirmation completes the Sacrament of Baptism.
It is usually administered when the child is in Primary 4 class,
after the child has received the Sacrament of Reconciliation
and
before the child makes First Holy Communion.
Preparation
for the Sacrament of Confirmation takes place in school and in the
parish on Sundays after 10 a.m. Mass,
which
are designated in the Sunday Newsletter.
Before Confirmation
is administered to any child there must be regular practice of faith,
a strong desire to be Confirmed and fulfilment of all the preparation
programme both at school and in the parish.
The Sponsor
at Confirmation should be one of the Baptismal Godparents and that
person must be a practising Catholic.
Another Christian
name is usually chosen for Confirmation.
In Confirmation
the child is anointed with Holy Oil of Chrism and receives the Seven
Gifts of the Holy Spirit which are:
Wisdom
Understanding
Right Judgement
Courage
Knowledge
Reverence
Wonder and Awe
A record of
Confirmation is kept at the place of Baptism.
